As part of the activities of the Computer Science Department and under the direct supervision of the Head of the Department, Prof. Dr. Alaa Kadhom Farhan, the Network Management Branch in the Computer Science Department organized a workshop with second- and third-year students in the branch to introduce them to the importance of their field of study, the skills they will gain through academic study, and the opportunities and career paths available to them after graduation.
The workshop began with Dr. Saif Bashar Neama, Head of the Branch, who highlighted the importance of this dynamic and rapidly evolving field. He explained that the branch's current focus is on preparing students with the necessary theoretical knowledge regarding computer networks, protocols, and application programming. Various network devices and different cables were presented to familiarize students with them.
Additionally, the second focus area, which the branch particularly emphasizes, is web development. This subject will be studied by Network Branch students in the second semester of the second year, concentrating on web page design (front-end), followed by web application programming (back-end) in later stages. The importance of this field in both local and global job markets was also underscored.
Engineer Mohammed Abdullah explained the practical workings of wired cables, wireless routers, optical cables, and methods for connecting and testing them.
