- Under the patronage of the President of the University of Technology, Professor Dr. Ahmed Muhammad Hassan Al-Ghaban, and under the supervision of the Head of the Computer Science Department, Professor Dr. Alaa Kazem Farhan, and in cooperation with the teaching staff at the University of Baghdad, Department of Architectural Engineering, Professor Shatha Abbas, and the teaching staff at the University of Technology, Department of Civil Engineering, Professor Tariq Naji. Atiwi tagged cultural symposium “The Role of Technologies and Programs in Documenting Cultural Heritage” on Thursday, 11/2/2023 In the discussion room in the Computer Science Department building, in the presence of the Scientific Assistant, Professor Dr. Abeer Tariq, the Administrative Assistant, Assistant Professor Dr. Bashar Saadoun Mahdi, and the department’s students. The symposium discussed the definition of the concept of digital documentation and how to invest it with surveying and geomatic engineering in order to count and document archaeological buildings. Digital documentation is done through scanning an image identical to the document using modern technologies, and this allows access to the heritage digitally without losing important features. The use of advanced digital technologies based on laser scanning and photogrammetry helps in the digital preservation of many antiquities that must be preserved. Here the role of programmers and workers in the digital field appears in cooperating with civil engineers in documenting antiquities digitally. Cameras equipped with advanced imaging systems can also be used for digital design, taking real-life photos of museums and antiquities, and documenting them digitally. In conclusion, the head of the department, Professor Dr. Alaa Kazem Farhan, expressed his thanks and appreciation to the lecturers and awarded them certificates of appreciation in appreciation of their efforts in delivering this symposium.
