The Second Secretary of the Australian Embassy in Baghdad, Mr. Eliot Mann, visited the Department of Computer Science today, Monday, February 24, 2025. He was welcomed by the Head of the Department, Professor Dr. Alaa Kazem Farhan, along with the department’s deputies and heads of branches.
This visit follows the approval of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naim Al-Aboudi, to participate in discussions related to Iraq’s efforts in addressing climate change, policy, international relations, economics, cybersecurity, and communications.
During the visit, a presentation was given on the projects of students from the Computer Security and Cybersecurity branch, including:
Aiham Haider, a fourth-year student, presented his project titled "Understanding Attacker Behavior in Accessing Sensitive Information and How to Prevent Unauthorized Access."
Haider Basim, a fourth-year student, presented his project titled "Penetration Testing of Wi-Fi Networks and Security Measures."
Muhaimen Ahmed, a third-year student, presented his research titled "Software Analysis for Vulnerability Detection."
Sarhan Imad, a fourth-year student, presented his project on the use of "Phishing Techniques to Protect and Educate Users About Fake Links."
The guest also toured the department’s laboratories.
At the end of the visit, Mr. Mann expressed his admiration and appreciation for the scientific level and skills of the Computer Science students.
