Humanitarian visit to the Medical City Hospital
The volunteer team of the Department of Computer Sciences visited the Medicine City Hospital / Child Protection Education Hospital / Department of Oncology on Thursday 9/5/2019 to provide psychological and material support to sick children under the direct supervision of the Head of Computer Sciences Department. Dr. Hala Bhajat Abdul Wahab. On this visit, the volunteer team met with Dr. Amer Fadel, the specialist in charge of the department to identify cases of children and their needs. It is worth mentioning that this visit is added to the series of visits that the Department of Computer Sciences made during the current academic year 2018-2019.

A teacher from the department receives the Medal of Creativity for participating in the exhibition of scientific projects
The lecturer Wissam Mahmoud Liftah from our department received the medal of creativity and a certificate of appreciation for his participation with the graduation project of his student Saif Eddin Abdul Karim in the exhibition of scientific projects for the ninth annual festival of the Future College, for the period from 27 to 30 April 2019 and thus be the first project in the dpartment that won the Medal of Creativity.

a Teacher from our department receives an honorable certificate from the patent exhibition
The lecturer Dina Kazem Mohsen from the Department of Computer Sciences received the Medal of Creativity for her participation in the invention of the first patent exhibition, which was organized in cooperation between the Society of inventors and innovators of Iraq and the College of Future University at the ninth annual festival of the College for the period from 27-30 / 4/2019 on the patent which was A new global development of one of the artificial intelligence algorithms known as the Dijkstra Algorithm and then the design and implementation of a system that integrates this algorithm with the Global Positioning System and the Geographic Information System. The idea is to take part of the Open Global Road Map Especially for the city of Baghdad by adding specific sites and hospitals and identify information for roads and therefore the advantage of the system is that no user can add or update sites on the map. The idea was implemented by applying mobile Android for health services for the first time in Iraq to find the nearest hospital and the shortest way to provide all the information related to the road and the hospital and consider the solution of the problem of closed roads and crowded in the algorithm calculations when determining the shorter path and give alternative ways. This will be the first degree to be a patent in the field of computer science at the University of Technology.

Seminar entitled Awareness of the dangers of war debris
In the presence of the President of the University of Technology Dr. Amin Douai Thamer and the Head of Computer Sciences Department Dr. Hala Bahjat Abdul Wahab and a large number of professors and students Based on the principle of cooperation between universities and organizations in the field of community service, the Department of Computer Sciences in collaboration with the Baghdad Organization for the clearance of mines and bombs held a seminar and exhibition entitled (awareness of the dangers of war remnants) on Wednesday 24/4/2019 at the discussion hall in the department, the seminar included the definition of war remnants, the precaution against taking suspicious objects, the non-entry into contaminated areas, the confiscated and destroyed houses, the emphasis on contacting the concerned authorities, and the presentation of documentary films on how to deal with liberated areas cultivated by mines.
In conclusion, the President of the University, Prof. Dr. Amin Douai Thamer expressed his thanks and gratitude to the head of the Department of Computer Sciences Dr. Hala Bahjat Abdul Wahab for her cooperation with organizations and the establishment of such seminars and praised the leadership role played by women at the level of society in general and at the university level in particular, as most of the successes of the university is credited to women.

Field visit to the Baghdad Center for Renewable and Sustainable Energy
On Thursday, 18/4/2019, the Department of Computer Sciences visited the Baghdad Center for Renewable and Sustainable Energy at the Baghdad International Fair to learn about the Center's work and the latest achievements in the field of renewable and sustainable energies. The center is the result of a community initiative for a group of businessmen. Founded five years ago and is the first in the Middle East and Iraq in the field of renewable and sustainable energy, the Center works on the solar energy system and is considered a supporter of the Ministry of Electricity and works for the following:
- Recycling organic waste.
- How to take advantage of solar energy in the production of electric power.
- Create a clean environment.

Discussion of the Master student Yassir Dhiaa' Hussien
The student (Yasser Diaa Hussein) received his master's degree from the Department of Computer Sciences / University of Technology for his thesis (Texting Communication Application Based on Hand Gesture). In relation to the study presented, we offer a new approach to represent the English alphabet as gestures using six Patterns. The hash pattern is applied by using the Histogram equation for the grayscale image. The classification process was performed via Euclidean distance function as well as linear discrimination analysis in Fisher (FLDA). Difficulties, including recognition of similar gestures, seem to be fully managed with the proposed technology, as the background is fixed in white. That's why you get an 85% discrimination rate because lighting may be different from one place to another, as well as camera resolution, which is very important in distinguishing features. This was on Thursday, 11/4/2019, and at the discussion room in the annex building of the department.
