The Computer Science department organized an educational seminar on ways to protect university students from drugs that lead to suicide.
The seminar, titled "Ways to Protect University Students from Drugs that Lead to Suicide," was organized by the Computer Science department under the supervision of the department head, Professor Dr. Alaa Kadhim Farhan, with the attendance of the scientific assistant Professor Dr. Abeer Tareq Mawlud, the Director of the Educational Guidance Unit Dr. Mohammed Ghani, the Director of the Scientific Affairs and Cultural Relations Branch Teacher Taiba Wala' Al-Deen Khairy, along with professors and students of the department. The seminar was delivered by Assistant Lecturer Haneen Rashid Majid from the Psychological Guidance and Educational Orientation Division at the Technological University on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, in the discussion hall of the Computer Science department building.
The seminar discussed ways to protect youth from drugs, considering it a sensitive and dangerous topic that is widely spread across all social classes. One of the reasons for its prevalence is social and familial causes, highlighting that the less attentive parents are towards their children, the higher the risk of their falling into the trap of drug abuse. It emphasized the necessity of adopting counseling and guidance methods in correcting children's behavior and avoiding harshness. The seminar clarified the types of drugs, the harms of drug use, the symptomatic signs appearing on users, and methods of treatment. It also addressed the importance of reporting drug dealers and users to eradicate this alien phenomenon in our society.
In conclusion, the department head, Professor Dr. Alaa Kadhim Farhan, awarded a certificate of appreciation to the lecturer in recognition of her efforts in delivering the seminar.

Assistant Professor Dr. Suheir Mohammed Zaki from the Computer Science department attended a theatrical performance titled "Under the Pressure of Cortisol," which was held by the media team Abaad in collaboration with the Riada Center for Training and Development in the Computer Engineering department on Sunday, 2023/12/3. This was an interactive dramatic presentation, and at the end of the performance, the faculty member participated in a survey related to the show about making appropriate decisions.

With the attendance of the head of the Computer Science department, Professor Dr. Alaa Kadhim Farhan, the educational guidance unit in the department held its first meeting with the students of the Multimedia branch for the stages (second, third, and fourth) on Monday, 2023/12/4, in the discussion hall of the Computer Science department building. The meeting was attended by the head of the Multimedia branch, lecturer Dr. Rana Mohammed Hassan, the director of the educational guidance unit Dr. Mohammed Ghani, a member of the educational guidance committee in the branch, assistant professor Dr. Noha Jamil Ibrahim, lecturer Dr. Mona Ghazi Abdul Sahib, and assistant lecturer Saima Hassan Aziz.
The meeting began with a welcoming speech by the department head, in which he expressed his pride and appreciation for the students and graduates of the department, saying, "The students are our asset," and he emphasized many points, including the necessity for students to adhere to a series of references to solve the problems they face, mutual respect that should prevail between the student and their teachers, attention to personal hygiene and modest dress, following university instructions and schedules on the department's website, respecting employees, the importance of participating in student activities held by the department and university, adherence to official working hours, and preserving public property and laboratories."
