As part of the regular workshop series organized by the Office of the Assistant President of the University for Scientific Affairs and Graduate Studies, a workshop was held in the Computer Science Department on Monday, November 11, 2024, titled "The University Ecosystem and Its Role in Entrepreneurship and Achieving Sustainable Development Goals."
The workshop was presented by Dr. Manal Abdulwahid, Head of the Technological Incubators Division, and Assistant Lecturer Fadel Abbas, a faculty member in the Computer Science Department. It highlighted the importance of the university environment in fostering innovation and supporting entrepreneurship, with a focus on how the university ecosystem can be utilized to achieve sustainable development goals through projects and initiatives that contribute to economic, social, and environmental growth.
Details about the ecosystem platform provided by the university were also explained, including information on support programs, workshops, and funding opportunities. The Head of the Computer Science Department meets with first-year students
The Head of the Computer Science Department, Professor Dr. Alaa Kadhom Farhan, met with first-year students from all branches admitted for the 2024-2025 academic year on Sunday, November 10, 2024, in the late Dr. Imad Kadhom Hall in the department building. The meeting was attended by the Administrative Assistant, Associate Professor Dr. Bashar Saadoun Mahdi, the Scientific Assistant, Associate Professor Dr. Mustafa Jassim, and the heads of the branches.
During the meeting, the Head of the Department welcomed the new students and wished them a successful academic year. He emphasized the importance of adhering to instructions and maintaining discipline on campus. Students were introduced to the currently applied Bologna Process, informed about the department's website, and advised to consider it a key resource for information, announcements, lectures, and all matters important to students.

Improved Electronic Currency System Using High Complexity Encryption Algorithms
by PhD student (Asmaa Abdullah Mohammed), majoring in General Computer Science, on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, in the late Dr. Imad Kadhom Hall in the department building. This work presents an improved electronic currency system that uses highly complex encryption algorithms to enhance security measures by integrating advanced encryption techniques. It aims to protect sensitive financial data from unauthorized access and ensure the integrity and confidentiality of transactions. The examination committee consisted of Prof. Dr. Sadiq Abdulaziz Mahdi as Chair, and members Prof. Dr. Sakeena Hassan Hashim, Prof. Dr. Nada Faleh Hassan, Prof. Dr. Shaimaa Hameed Shakir, Prof. Dr. Ikhlas Khalaf Kabashi, Prof. Dr. Abdulmunem Saleh Rahma as a member and supervisor, and Prof. Dr. Hala Bahjat Abdulwahab as a member and supervisor.
