The University of Technology ranks first locally in the 2025 Times Higher Education World University Rankings
Baghdad, Iraq – October 9, 2024
The results of the "THE World University Rankings 2025" were announced, with the University of Technology achieving a notable accomplishment by ranking first locally among Iraqi universities for the second consecutive year out of a total of 18 universities ranked this year. Additionally, the University of Technology secured a position within the (1001–1200) range among 2092 universities worldwide included in the ranking.
The "THE World University Rankings" is based on a range of academic criteria, including teaching, scientific research, and international reputation. This ranking is one of the most prestigious and reliable global university rankings.
On this occasion, the President of the University of Technology, Professor Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Hassan Al-Ghaban, expressed his pride in this achievement, reflecting the university's distinguished academic level and enhancing its standing among global universities. He emphasized that this ranking is the result of continuous efforts by the university’s faculty and students in education and research, highlighting the university’s commitment to developing an advanced educational environment that keeps pace with global advancements across various fields.
Al-Ghaban added, "The 2025 Times Ranking marks a milestone in the University of Technology’s journey towards global recognition. We are proud of the progress achieved and remain committed to enhancing the quality of education and research, as well as building fruitful international partnerships to improve our future rankings."

The Computer Science Department organizes a seminar on student ethics on campus.
Under the patronage of the President of the University of Technology, Professor Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Hassan Al-Ghaban, and the supervision of the Head of the Computer Science Department, Professor Dr. Alaa Kadhom Farhan, the seminar titled "Student Ethics on Campus" was held in cooperation with Assistant Lecturer Haneen Rasheed Majeed from the University President's Office, Psychological Counseling, and Educational Guidance Division. The seminar took place in the late Dr. Imad Kadhom Hall in the Computer Science Department building on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, attended by Scientific Assistant Professor Dr. Abeer Tareq Mawlood, faculty members, and department students.
The seminar addressed two main themes. The first focused on student ethics, covering aspects such as interactions with peers, adherence to societal customs and traditions, cultivating personal ethics, respectful peer interactions, avoiding bullying, maintaining campus cleanliness, adhering to modest dress, and careful engagement with social media. The second theme discussed the student-teacher relationship, emphasizing respect for teachers, appreciation of their efforts in delivering academic content, and recognizing the teacher as a high-value figure in society.
At the conclusion, the department's scientific assistant awarded a certificate of appreciation to the lecturer in recognition of her efforts in delivering the seminar.

The Computer Science Department organizes a tree-planting campaign for the department's gardens
Under the direct supervision of the Head of the Computer Science Department, Professor Dr. Alaa Kadhom Farhan, and with the participation of the Administrative Assistant, Associate Professor Dr. Bashar Saadoun Mahdi, along with a group of department staff and students, the Computer Science Department organized a tree-planting campaign in the department's gardens today, Tuesday, October 1, 2024. A variety of evergreen trees and seasonal plants were planted to expand the university's green spaces and encourage volunteer work among students, as it positively impacts providing a healthy environment, enhancing the surroundings, and reducing pollution. It is worth noting that this campaign is part of a series of regular efforts by the department to maintain and sustain green spaces.
