Professor Dr. Alaa kadhom Farhan, the Head of the Department of Computer Science, has been appointed as the chair of the special ministerial committee to review the establishment of a Master's program in Cybersecurity / Department of Information Security / College of Information Technology / University of Babylon. The committee conducted a field visit to the college to examine the physical and human resources and the availability of conditions stipulated in the regulations of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.

The Department of Computer Science at the University of Technology has achieved an unprecedented ranking by securing the first place among the corresponding colleges within the results of the Iraqi ranking of scientific departments in universities, announced by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. This accomplishment is in line with its policy to enhance responsiveness to quality requirements and to develop the educational environment and measure institutional performance indicators. These results, achieved by the Supervision and Evaluation Authority of the university, assessed (1875) scientific departments in 95 public and private universities and colleges based on the criteria of program accreditation (40%), faculty members (25%), students (20%), and international rankings of academic specialties (15%).

The Head of the Department of Computer Science, Professor Dr. Alaa Kazem Farhan, received a delegation from Baghdad College for Economic Sciences University today, Monday, 2024/2/12. During their visit, the delegation toured the laboratories and lecture halls of the Department of Computer Science and met with the heads of the branches. Discussions focused on joint examinations between the two parties to activate the twinning agreement. This visit comes under the twinning agreement signed by the Department of Computer Science at the University of Technology with Baghdad College for Economic Sciences University, aiming to strengthen the joint cooperation between the two universities in academic fields.

The Department of Computer Science, under the direct supervision of the Head of the Department, Professor Dr. Alaa Kazem Farhan, conducted the oral examination for postgraduate (PhD) students today, Monday, 2024/2/12. Five-member committees were assigned to the students, with one committee per student. Each committee consisted of five lecturers holding PhD degrees, including professors and associate professors, with the committee chair being a professor. Professor Dr. Alaa Kazem Farhan emphasized that the examination was conducted smoothly and in accordance with the conditions and requirements of the oral examination set by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, preparing the students for the research phase.
