- The Computer Science Department discussed ten outstanding graduation projects from the fourth-year students as part of the Fifth Festival of Final Year Projects for the 2023-2024 academic year. The projects were evaluated by a university committee of faculty members, with the presence of the Head of the Computer Science Department, Professor Dr. Alaa Kazem Farhan, and the supervising professors, on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, in the late Dr. Abbas Fadhel Abdul Qader Hall in the annex building of the Computer Science Department. The university committee consisted of: Professor Dr. Shatha Asaad Salman Professor Dr. Ayman Dawood Salman Assistant Professor Dr. Ahmed Asaad Karim The preparatory committee member: Assistant Professor Dr. Bashar Saadoun Mahdi The discussion aimed to review the students' projects and highlight the outstanding ones.

- The Head of the Computer Science Department, Professor Dr. Alaa Kazem Farhan, awarded certificates of appreciation to the Computer Science Department student team (Abdulqaddous Hamid Masleh from the Multimedia Branch, Rusul Mohammed Hussein from the Information Systems Branch, and Murtadha Jassim Hussein from the Software Branch) for securing second place in the Grand Challenge Competition in the Information Technology category. The competition was organized by the Student Activities Department of the Supervision and Scientific Evaluation Authority and held at Al-Noor University in Nineveh Province from April 21 to April 25, 2024.

- Under the presence of the Head of the Computer Science Department, Professor Dr. Alaa Kazem Farhan, the Five-Seminar Series for Monitoring PhD Students took place today, Thursday, April 25, 2024, in the late Dr. Abbas Fadhel Abdul Qader Hall in the annex building of the Computer Science Department. The seminars were attended by members of the committees assigned to monitor the students. During the seminars, students presented their latest progress and highlighted the major challenges they faced. Progress percentages were recorded, and solutions were proposed and discussed with the students and their supervisors to complete the thesis requirements.

- The Computer Science Department held its second general assembly meeting for the 2023-2024 academic year, attended by the Head of the Computer Science Department, Professor Dr. Alaa Kazem Farhan, and all faculty members. The meeting took place today, Monday, April 29, 2024, in the late Dr. Imad Kazem Hall in the Computer Science Department building. During the meeting, perspectives were aligned, obstacles were addressed, and the exam schedule was discussed in preparation for the end-of-second-semester exams. The Head of the Department emphasized the importance of adhering to the invigilation schedule and praised the advanced level achieved by the department's laboratories, which received the highest scores in the Laboratory Accreditation Program. The meeting also covered the distribution of projects and the introduction of a PhD program in Data Security within the Computer Science Department, the first of its kind in the country. The Head of the Department commended the exceptional efforts of the teaching staff in making the current academic year successful. At the end of the meeting, the Head of the Department awarded certificates of appreciation to the faculty members who ranked in the top ten for the H-index and for their active contributions to providing the university with highly cited scientific research, thus enhancing the academic reputation of the Computer Science Department. He wished them continued success and excellence.
