The Head of the Computer Science Department, Professor Dr. Alaa Kazem Farhan, attended the opening of the ITEx IRAQ 2023 Exhibition and Conference for Information and Communications Technology in its second session, which was held on the grounds of the Baghdad International Fair, starting on Wednesday, 9/27/2023, for a period of three days, with the distinguished participation of the University of Technology, in the presence of the Assistant President of the University for Administrative Affairs, Professor Dr. Hussein Hamid Karim and an elite group of department professors, including the Head of the Data Security and Cybersecurity Branch, Assistant Professor Dr. Iyad Hazem Ibrahim, Dr. Rana Muhammad Hassan, and Assistant Lecturer Omar Hadeeb. The exhibition included the latest technologies related to digital transformation in the field of education, and the teaching staff at the University of Technology from the departments concerned with communications and information technology participated in the exhibition. Among the activities of the second day of the exhibition, corresponding to September 28, 2023, was the attendance of a group of professors, affiliates and students of the Computer Science Department to the Baghdad International Fair to see the most important digital innovations that were displayed at the ITEX IRAQ 2023 exhibition and to visit the Baghdad International Book Fair, which coincided with the exhibition and conference. During the tour in the exhibition halls, the latest international book editions were reviewed.

The Computer Science Department participated in a symposium held by Al-Nahrain Center for Strategic Studies, entitled “The Role of Artificial Intelligence in Society,” with the participation of the Ministries of Defense and Interior, the Council of Ministers, and the private sector. The Department of Computer Science was attended by Professor Dr. Ahmed Tariq Sadiq and Prof. Dr. Khalil Ibrahim Ghathwan. The speech of the University of Technology and the Department of Computer Science was given by Professor Dr. Ahmed Tariq Sadiq, Professor of Artificial Intelligence in the department.

The Head of the Computer Science Department, Professor Dr. Alaa Kazem Farhan, met with postgraduate students (Master’s and PhD) in the research stage in the discussion room in the department building today, Thursday, 9/21/2023, in the presence of the Scientific Assistant, Professor Dr. Abeer Tariq Mawlud, and the Head of the Postgraduate Studies Division, Assistant Lecturer, Rasha Ismail. During the meeting, the students’ problems and obstacles facing them during the research phase were reviewed, as were the rates of research completion. The students were urged to complete the academic requirements within the time frames set for them, with the need to follow up with the department and supervising professors to overcome the difficulties and provide the necessary supplies to complete their studies as quickly as possible to contribute to supporting the scientific process in Our country has expertise and competencies.
