Scientific conference in the Sultanate of Oman

- The Department of Computer Sciences participated in the 6th International Conference on Information Technology and Accessibility of Persons with Disabilities in the Sultanate of Oman / Sultan Qaboos University / Faculty of Education for the period (19-21) / 12/2017. with a research by Dr. Abdel-Moneim Saleh Rahma and doctoral student Ali Adel Said entitled (Distinguishing the Assyrian Cuneiform font using the Default Selection Rule).

- The smaster tudent (Yasser Diaa' Jawad) received a master's degree from the Department of Computer Sciences / University of Technology for his thesis entitled (Detection human facial in colored images based on hybrid fractal and quad tree techniques) Thursday, 21/12/2017. the discussion committee formed by (Dr. Abdul Amir Abdullah Karim and Dr. Hana Mohsen Ahmed) from the University of Technology / Department of Computer Sciences and Dr. Louay Edour George from Baghdad University / Faculty of Science / Computer Science.

- the master student Shaimaa Jawad Kazem received a master's degree from the Department of Computer Sciences / University of Technology for her thesis entitled (Object Hiding Algorithm using Steganography Techniques), Thursday, 21/12/2017 at the discussion room in the department and the discussion committee was composed of Dr. Hala Bahjat Abdel Wahab and Dr. Maysaa' Abid Ali (from the University of Technology / Computer Sciences Department). Dr. Sadiq Abdul Aziz Mahdi from Mustansiriya University / Computer Education.

- The Educational and Guidance Unit participated in the Department of Computer Sciences in the course (Behavioral and cognitive guidance strategies for the staff of the extension units of the University), which was established by the Psychological Research Center at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research for the period from 17-20 / 12/2017 in order to strengthen the role of extension units in Iraqi Universities. The session was attended by representatives of the extension units in Iraqi universities and lectured by a group of professors specialized in educational guidance. The following topics were discussed:



  • Develop programs to build an increase in the concept of self-confidence and teamwork.
  • Helping the students solve their problems by solving the problem systematically and putting it in its proper framework.
  • Assist the students to how to plan his/her life and ask him/her about the difficulties he/she faces in life to find the appropriate solutions and to choose the appropriate solution.
  • Emphasize on the importance of developing teamwork skills.
  • Follow-up the students regarding absences and treatment of school delays.
  • Cultivate the idea of the individual's compatibility with themselves and others to achieve the mental health of the student.
  • Emphasize the culture of dialogue.
  • Addressing the theory of rational counseling which consists of thought, emotion and behavior.

- Dr. Rahim Abdel-Saheb Okla from the computer sciences department. Participated as a lecturer in the course entitled "E-Governance", which was held at the Center for Continuing Education on 17/12/2017 with the aim of raising awareness and implementing e-governance in the institutions of the country and the private sector through the use of information and communication technology to enhance the role of citizen participation Between citizens and the government agencies by raising the level of efficiency and effectiveness in government performance and work to provide accurate information to support decision-making and rationalize government spending and to emphasize transparency in the procedures and to resist change in e-government.
