- In support of humanitarian initiatives within the framework of community service, the Head of the Computer Science Department, Professor Dr. Alaa Kadhim Farhan, along with faculty and students of the department, organized a visit on Sunday, 2024-03-31, to the headquarters of Al-Ayn Social Care Foundation in the holy city of Kadhimiyah. The delegation was welcomed by the Director of Development Center and Technical Advisor to the Head of the Foundation, Dr. Imad Mohammad Aboud, for a field tour inside the foundation and its administrative departments in the Al-Anjam Al-Zahra building to learn about the major activities and services provided by the foundation for orphans and the poor, including a visit to the Rehabilitation and Psychological Counseling Center that the foundation offers to reintegrate orphans into society. During the visit, cash amounts from the donations of the department members were delivered. At the end of the visit, the management of the foundation thanked the Head of the Computer Science Department and the accompanying delegation for this kind initiative that reflects a culture of empathy towards others. It is worth mentioning that Al-Ayn Social Care Foundation is a humanitarian organization concerned with the affairs of orphans in need of care.

- The head of the Computer Science Department, Professor Dr. Alaa Kazim Farhan, attended the iftar banquet organized by the University of Technology under the sponsorship of the university president, Professor Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Hassan Al-Ghabban. The banquet was executed by the Department of Dormitories and the Department of Diwan Affairs in collaboration with the General Secretariat of the Al-Abbas Holy Shrine to commemorate the anniversary of the martyrdom of Imam Ali (peace be upon him) on Monday, 2024/4/1, at the University of Technology's gardens. The event was attended by heads of the engineering and scientific departments, representatives from the Al-Abbas Holy Shrine, and (1750) students from the dormitories. The celebration included a cultural contest and various activities.

- Master's student Hassan Risan Hussein from the Computer Science Department has qualified for the final round for master's students in the Three Minute Thesis competition held by the University of Technology, with an outstanding presentation.

- Lecturer and PhD student in the Computer Science Department, Dina Kadhim Mohsen, has qualified for the final stage of the Three Minute Thesis competition organized by the University of Technology. In the competition, she will present her research titled "A Swarm of Robots for Management and Coverage of an Area within a Dynamic Obstacles Environment." The research focuses on covering a specific area with a swarm of robots to find all targets and accomplish required tasks under all conditions and crises, through programming modern robots with complex algorithms.

- Under the sponsorship of the President of the University of Technology, Professor Dr. Ahmad Mohammed Hassan Al-Ghabban, and supervised by the Head of the Computer Science Department, Professor Dr. Alaa Kadhim Farhan, with the presence of the Scientific Assistant, Professor Dr. Abeer Tariq Mouloud, the Computer Science Department organized a workshop titled "The Role of Awareness in Enhancing Occupational Safety and Health in the University Environment." The workshop was conducted by Assistant Professor Dr. Suheir Mohammed Zaki on Wednesday, 2024/3/27, at the late Dr. Abbas Fadhil hall, attended by students and professors of the department. The workshop discussed the concept of occupational safety and health, represented by specialized administrations and committees for safety and awareness through guidance, training, equipment purchase, and the establishment of a database accompanied by periodic reports. Occupational health aims to protect the worker from diseases, including psychological ones, with institutions' goals focusing on the worker, work, equipment, work environment, and protecting the human element from work hazards while maintaining the material elements for a safe environment within the institution. In conclusion, the Scientific Assistant awarded a certificate of appreciation to the lecturer.
