The Computer Science Department discussed the PhD dissertation titled "Verification of Handwritten Signatures Using Optimization Methods" by PhD student Zainab Hashim Ftoohi in the late Dr. Abbas Fadel Abdulqader Hall in the annex building of the Computer Science Department on Sunday, May 26, 2024. The dissertation aims to verify handwritten signatures to determine if they are genuine or forged and to authenticate the identity of the signer. An enhanced system for handwritten signature verification using artificial intelligence techniques was proposed. The proposed methods in the dissertation showed promising results in distinguishing between genuine and forged signatures, outperforming existing systems. The Computer Science Department discussed the PhD dissertation titled "Speaker Profiling for Human-Robot Interaction" by PhD student Umnia Hamid Jaad on Thursday, May 23, 2024, in the late Dr. Abbas Fadel Abdulqader Hall in the annex building of the Computer Science Department. The dissertation aims to identify speaker features from voice and proposes two new algorithms for feature testing: the ascending selection algorithm and the fuzzy union algorithm. The proposed methods in the dissertation yield consistent results in extracting the speaker's age, height, and gender.
