- Under the patronage and encouragement of the Head of the Computer Science Department, Professor Dr. Alaa Kazem Farhan, the Department of Computer Science at the University of Technology organized a scientific trip to the 2024 Baghdad International Book Fair on Sunday, 2024/9/22. During the visit, participants explored the latest publications from Arab and international publishing houses, aiming to promote reading in the age of technology and to enhance academic and cultural engagement.

- The Department of Computer Science congratulated Professor Dr. Ahmed Tareq Sadeq on the release of his new book, "Fundamentals and Techniques of Artificial Intelligence," published by Al-Dhakira Publishing and Distribution at the 2024 Baghdad International Book Fair. The event was attended by the Prime Minister's Advisor for Artificial Intelligence, Professor Diaa Al-Jameeli, who also congratulated the author on the release of this important book and praised the efforts made by the author. It is worth mentioning that this is the author's fourth book, following three previous publications in recent years: "Fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence: Search, Inference, and Knowledge Representation," "Intelligent Systems," and "Methods and Algorithms of Machine Learning."

This competition focuses on addressing real-life needs in the field of technology, with the competition being held in the areas of (Network, Cloud Computing). The registration period will be from September to November, and the exams will be as follows:

  1. The preliminary exam at the Iraq level will be held in October 2024.
  2. The secondary exam at the Iraq level will be held in November 2024.
  3. The final exam at the Middle East and Central Asia level will take place in December 2024.
  4. The final global exam will be held outside of Iraq from May 2025 to June 2025.

- The Department of Computer Science discussed the Master's thesis titled "Improved Forensics Analysis Using Deep Learning for Object Detection in the Internet of Things" by Master's student Rasul Zahid Kamil (Computer Science / General) on Monday, 2024/9/16, in the late Dr. Imad Kazem’s hall in the Computer Science Department building. The thesis aims to provide insightful approaches to criminal investigation, focusing particularly on data analysis, protecting findings, and developing a system capable of predicting fake images from real ones using deep learning techniques. The thesis concluded that the algorithms used significantly enhance the prediction of fake images, emphasizing the high accuracy achieved. The discussion committee consisted of Prof. Dr. Shaimaa Hameed Shaker as the chairperson, with members Assist. Prof. Dr. Omar Abdul-Karim Jassim, Assist. Prof. Dr. Khalil Ibrahim Gathwan, Prof. Dr. Abeer Tareq Mawlood as a member and supervisor, and Assist. Prof. Dr. Iyad Hazem Ibrahim as a member and supervisor.
