- The Department of Computer Sciences held a seminar entitled (bag of visual words) for lecturers Dr. Abdul Amir Abdullah and Lect. Ikhlas Faleh on Wednesday, January 4, 2017 and the late Hall (Dr. Emad Kadhum) The seminar has shown interest in the reviewing this technique and explain how it work to accomodate the developments in the field of computer science, This method is one of the most commonly used methods on a large scale, which represent pictures as a group of local characteristics and for this reason, some researchers tend to call it as a bag of qualities, and the future of the recommendations is to add another level of analysis to model bovw and the use of different groups of local qualities.

- With the presence of the president of the university Prof. Dr. Ameen Douai Thamer and the dean of computer sciences department Dr. Hala Bahjat Abdul Wahab, the department of Computer Sciences opened the annual scientific activity of the new academic year 2016-2017, where the first lecture was held on Wednesday, 2016-10-26 by Dr. Maha Abdel Karim and lecture was entitled: " Quality Management in Higher Education Institutions: Concepts and aspirations of the future " the lecture focuesd on the spreading of the culture of quality of higher education, and the benefits to reach the global academic accreditation.

- Two faculty memebrs Dr. Hanaa Mohsen and Dr. Maisaa Abd Ali gave ascientific seminar on the hall of the late ( Dr. Emad Khadum) in the Department of Computer Sciences on Thursday, 06-10-2016, about their participation in the international conference for computers and applications in Dubai for the period from 14-15 September 2016 in which they attended with their researches.

Software Documentation Lecture

- Scientific lecture established at the department on Wednesday 30th March 2016 aimed to define the importance of software documentation. Documentation is one of the modern style in order to create certain communication between developers. It focused on detailed explanation of the source codes and its instructions using textual language. The lecture resulted outcomes revealed the emphasis of spreading software documentation culture between students starting from undergraduate studies. It has introduced future horizons to depicting documentation culture. Narrated story were told to the audience in order to stimulate their attention of the real documentation importance. Several types of documentation has been explained like internal documentation and external documentation. It took a place at the main department’s hall by the assistance lecturer Miss Nada Najeel with the presence of the dean assistances Dr. Ayad Abbas and Dr. Alya’a Abdul Hasan with other from the staff and students.

Big Data and Business Intelligence Lecture

- A lecture take place at the computer science department in Wednesday 9th March 2016 at the main hall. Several attenders were involved into this lecture specially the dean of the department Dr. Hala Bahagt and her scientific and administrative assistances. Also participant from other departments were engaged into this activity mainly Dr. Mouaid Hasan the dean of mechanical engineering department, Dr. Dhary Yousef the dean of electrical engineering department, Dr. Wisam Hamdan dean of medical life engineering department and others.



The lecture has discussed the concept of business intelligence where it focused in the group of tools and techniques that transforms data into visual data included into business intelligence board in order to reflect business nature and its data that helps decision makers to make decisions. It clarifies major business intelligence target to increase profit, reduce expenses and cutting risks expected. Business intelligence adopts several techniques like data mining, predicting methodologies and user data analysis and others to establish the ground of facts that eventually leads to final target designed.

The Lecture has presented data rapid growth during last decades where, it raised big data problem that cannot be processed using traditional methodologies due to its characteristics and its huge amount. Several solutions proposed based in parallel processing and data analysis based in HADOOP station. Hadoop station is a programmable station works in Linux basis and computer networking that parallel data processing using MapReduce algorithm. The lecturers involved were DR. Hasanin Sameer and Saif Bashar as a researcher.
