The Head of the Computer Science Department attends an iftar banquet for students of the internal departments in cooperation with the Al-Abbas Holy Shrine on the anniversary of the martyrdom of Imam Ali (peace be upon him).

- The head of the Computer Science Department, Professor Dr. Alaa Kazim Farhan, attended the iftar banquet organized by the University of Technology under the sponsorship of the university president, Professor Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Hassan Al-Ghabban. The banquet was executed by the Department of Dormitories and the Department of Diwan Affairs in collaboration with the General Secretariat of the Al-Abbas Holy Shrine to commemorate the anniversary of the martyrdom of Imam Ali (peace be upon him) on Monday, 2024/4/1, at the University of Technology's gardens. The event was attended by heads of the engineering and scientific departments, representatives from the Al-Abbas Holy Shrine, and (1750) students from the dormitories. The celebration included a cultural contest and various activities.

Lecturer and PhD Student Dina Kadhim Mohsen from the Computer Science Department Qualifies for the Final Stage in the Three Minute Thesis Competition

- Lecturer and PhD student in the Computer Science Department, Dina Kadhim Mohsen, has qualified for the final stage of the Three Minute Thesis competition organized by the University of Technology. In the competition, she will present her research titled "A Swarm of Robots for Management and Coverage of an Area within a Dynamic Obstacles Environment." The research focuses on covering a specific area with a swarm of robots to find all targets and accomplish required tasks under all conditions and crises, through programming modern robots with complex algorithms.

The Computer Science Department Organizes a Workshop on the Role of Awareness in Enhancing Occupational Safety and Health in the University Environment

- Under the sponsorship of the President of the University of Technology, Professor Dr. Ahmad Mohammed Hassan Al-Ghabban, and supervised by the Head of the Computer Science Department, Professor Dr. Alaa Kadhim Farhan, with the presence of the Scientific Assistant, Professor Dr. Abeer Tariq Mouloud, the Computer Science Department organized a workshop titled "The Role of Awareness in Enhancing Occupational Safety and Health in the University Environment." The workshop was conducted by Assistant Professor Dr. Suheir Mohammed Zaki on Wednesday, 2024/3/27, at the late Dr. Abbas Fadhil hall, attended by students and professors of the department. The workshop discussed the concept of occupational safety and health, represented by specialized administrations and committees for safety and awareness through guidance, training, equipment purchase, and the establishment of a database accompanied by periodic reports. Occupational health aims to protect the worker from diseases, including psychological ones, with institutions' goals focusing on the worker, work, equipment, work environment, and protecting the human element from work hazards while maintaining the material elements for a safe environment within the institution. In conclusion, the Scientific Assistant awarded a certificate of appreciation to the lecturer.

The Educational Guidance Unit in the Computer Science Department Holds a Meeting with First-Year Students of the Network Management and Multimedia Branches

- Under the supervision and presence of the Head of the Computer Science Department, Professor Dr. Alaa Kadhim Farhan, the Educational Guidance Unit in the Computer Science Department held a meeting with first-year students of the Network Management and Multimedia branches. The meeting was attended by the Administrative Assistant, Associate Professor Dr. Bashar Saadon Mahdi, the Head of Network Management Branch, Associate Professor Dr. Rahim Abd Al-Sahib Akleh, the Head of Multimedia Branch, Dr. Rana Mohammed Hassan, and the Director of the Educational Guidance Unit, Dr. Mohammed Ghani, on Tuesday, 2024/3/26, in the late Dr. Emad Kadhim hall. During the meeting, the department head emphasized the importance of adhering to the university discipline law, commitment to reference series, choosing good friends, understanding students' rights and responsibilities, abstaining from smoking, dressing modestly, respecting others, not interfering in their affairs, and maintaining the cleanliness of the department's labs and halls, especially after the rehabilitation campaign announced by the department head, Professor Dr. Alaa Kadhim Farhan, to provide a suitable educational environment for our dear students.

Computer Science Department Seniors Program and Connect Several Smart Robots

- With ongoing support from the head of the Computer Science Department, Professor Dr. Alaa Kadhim Farhan, aimed at channeling students' energy towards developing scientific skills, and under the supervision of the scientific advisor of the Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, Professor Dr. Aliya Kareem Abdul Hassan, a group of senior students specializing in Artificial Intelligence in the Computer Science Department have successfully programmed and connected several smart robots for the Artificial Intelligence Laboratory.

- The President of the University of Technology, Professor Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Hassan Al-Ghabban, extended his appreciation and thanks to the lecturer, Professor Dr. Nada Faleh Hassan from the Department of Computer Science, for her distinguished efforts in publishing rigorous scientific research. Her work, which has been featured in journals indexed within Scopus, includes the research titled "Multibiometric System With Runs Bits Permutation For Creating Cryptographic Key Generation Technique" and "An Image Feature Extraction To Generate A Key For Encryption in Cyber Security Medical Environments." The Computer Science Department Organizes a Workshop on State Employees' Rights (Leaves and Retirement as Examples)

- Under the sponsorship of the President of the University of Technology, Professor Dr. Ahmad Muhammad Hassan Al-Ghabban, and supervised by the Head of the Computer Science Department, Professor Dr. Alaa Kadhim Farhan, as part of the activities of the second semester, the Computer Science Department organized a workshop titled "State Employees' Rights (Leaves and Retirement as Examples)" on Wednesday, 2024-03-20, in the Dr. Abbas Fadil Hall in the Computer Science Department building annex. The workshop was delivered by the Head of the Legal Unit, Lecturer Amal Abduljabbar Hasouni, and the Administrative Assistant, Associate Professor Bashar Saadon Mehdi. This workshop aimed to introduce various types of leaves such as sick leave, maternity leave, delivery and bereavement leave, spousal accompanying leave, the full-time appointed leave, and educational leaves for undergraduate and postgraduate studies, along with the regulations for each type. It also covered the conditions for retirement, pension salary, and end-of-service benefits. This workshop follows the directives of the university presidency on the necessity of conducting educational workshops regarding the rights and duties of employees. At the conclusion, the Head of the Department, Professor Dr. Alaa Kadhim Farhan, awarded a certificate of appreciation to the lecturers in recognition of their efforts in delivering the lecture.

Participation of a Student from the Computer Science Department in the Youth Scouting Forum in Babylon

- Under the patronage of the President of the University of Technology, Professor Dr. Ahmad Muhammad Hassan Al-Ghabban, and the supervision of the Head of the Computer Science Department, Professor Dr. Alaa Kadhim Farhan, student Mustafa Yass Khudhair from the second stage, Multimedia branch, followed by the department's Sports Activities Coordinator, Professor Hussein Abdul Redha, participated in the Youth Scouting Forum. The event, held under the slogan "University Scouting Youth and Voluntary Work: Empowerment, Possibility, and Capability," took place at the Future University in Babylon. It saw the participation of 64 governmental universities and private colleges, with 160 participants including professors and students from various Iraqi and Arab universities. The forum aimed to enhance cultural communication and exchange experiences.
