The President of the University of Technology, Professor Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Hassan Al-Ghaban, extended his gratitude and appreciation to the Head of the Computer Science Department, Professor Dr. Alaa Kazem Farhan, in recognition of his efforts and participation in the Graduation Projects Festival for final year students titled "Technology: Achievements and Sustainability," which took place from April 30 to May 6, 2024. He wished him continued success.

Launch of Final Exams for the Second Semester for Undergraduate Students in the Computer Science Department
Under the direct supervision of the Head of the Computer Science Department, Professor Dr. Alaa Kazem Farhan, the final exams for the second semester of the academic year 2023-2024 commenced today, Saturday, May 11, 2024, for undergraduate students in the second and fourth years. A total of 640 students participated in the exams. During the exams, the Head of the Department visited the examination halls to review the quality of the questions, monitor the progress of the exams, and address any difficulties faced by the students.
For the first time, an anti-cheating device was used during the exams by the Administrative Assistant, Assistant Professor Dr. Bashar Saadoun Mahdi.

Launch of the English Language Reading and Speaking Forum at the University of Technology
Under the patronage of the President of the University of Technology, Professor Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Hassan Al-Ghaban, and under the direct supervision of the Assistant President for Scientific Affairs and Graduate Studies, Professor Dr. Khawla Salah Khshan, the first activities of the English Language Reading and Speaking Forum at the University of Technology were launched. The event took place in the conference hall of the Computer Engineering Department, with the participation of many students from various stages and departments of the University of Technology.
The importance of the forum lies in reflecting the significance of the English language in the modern era, its role in communication with the outside world, acquiring knowledge, and enhancing employment opportunities in the Iraqi labor market. The forum will hold its upcoming sessions regularly to discuss books and articles, organize reading and speaking competitions, and invite English language experts to participate in seminars and workshops as part of its upcoming programs during the summer break in collaboration with the Central Library of the University of Technology.
In conclusion, the Career Development and Employment Division expresses its gratitude to the presidency of the University of Technology for supporting activities that contribute to developing students' skills and enhancing their abilities. A Master's Thesis in the Computer Science Department Discusses a Security Framework for the Internet of Things Based on Blockchain Technology
The Computer Science Department discussed the Master's thesis titled "Internet Of Things Security Framework Based On Blockchain" by Master's student Zainab Taher Jalil. The discussion took place on Thursday, May 9, 2024, in the late Dr. Abbas Fadel Abdelkader Hall in the annex building of the Computer Science Department.
The thesis aims to design a system that uses deep learning to recognize data from finger veins and secures the data using encryption and blockchain technology to enhance security and avoid risks in IoT devices, thereby improving privacy. The thesis also presents an advanced model for using deep learning.

Dr. Mohammed Ghani, Director of the Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit in the Computer Science Department, participated in the ToT (Training of Trainers) course at the University of Technology. Under the gracious patronage and encouragement, the President of the University of Technology, Professor Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Hassan Al-Ghaban, met with the Computer Science students who were part of the university team that secured second place in the Grand Challenge Competition. This competition was organized by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research / Supervision and Scientific Evaluation Authority / Student Activities Department.

The Computer Science Department Implements Crisis Management and Emergency Evacuation Plan
Under the direct supervision of the Head of the Computer Science Department, Professor Dr. Alaa Kazem Farhan, and with exceptional follow-up from the Administrative Assistant, Assistant Professor Dr. Bashar Saadoun Mahdi, along with guidance from Consultant Expert Majid Ahmed Ali, the implementation of the crisis management and emergency evacuation plan was successfully conducted today, Tuesday, May 7, 2024, at 12:00 PM in the department.
The exercise included hearing the alarm, following the directives of the responsible committees, evacuation, fire suppression, first aid, and wearing special badges for each committee. Participants then proceeded to the designated evacuation area in the garden opposite the department. A controlled fire was also simulated as part of the exercise.

Professor Dr. Ahmed Tariq Sadiq from the Computer Science Department delivered a scientific lecture titled "The Most Important Artificial Intelligence Techniques in Applied Sciences" today, Tuesday, May 7, 2024, in the Department of Applied Sciences. The lecture was attended by the Head of the Department, Professor Dr. Raed Abdulwahab Ismail, along with faculty members and students. At the end of the lecture, the Head of the Department of Applied Sciences awarded a certificate of appreciation to the lecturer in recognition of his efforts.

The faculty members (Assistant Professor Dr. Hassanein Samir Abdullah and Assistant Professor Dr. Nada Hussein) from the Computer Science Department attended the international conference titled "Artificial Intelligence and the Possibilities of Transformation in the Humanities." The conference was organized by the University of Baghdad - College of Arts, in cooperation with the Iraqi Institute for Dialogue, under the patronage of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naim Al-Aboudi. It was held on Sunday and Monday, May 5-6, 2024, at the Jadriya Campus, Al-Hakim Hall.

Head of the Computer Science Department Receives Patent for Developing a Smart Device for Precise Drug Dosage Control
Professor Dr. Alaa Kazem Farhan, Head of the Computer Science Department, received a patent in collaboration with Professor Dr. Abbas Mohsen Abdulhussein Al-Bakri, President of the University of Information Technology and Communications, and researcher Meena Habib Madi. The patent was granted for the development of a smart device for precise drug dosage control after undergoing testing by the Central Organization for Standardization and Quality Control.

The Department of Computer Science participates in the fifth edition of the Graduation Projects Competition Festival.
Under the patronage of the President of the University of Technology, Professor Dr. Ahmed Muhammad Hassan Al-Ghaban, and with direct supervision from the Assistant President of the University for Scientific Affairs and Postgraduate Studies, Professor Dr. Khawla Salah Khshan, and under the theme "Technology: Achievements and Sustainability," students from the Department of Computer Science participated along with other university departments in the final stage of the fifth edition of the Graduation Projects Competition for the academic year 2023-2024.
The scientific committee relied on specific criteria for the competition, such as creativity, innovation, time management, responsiveness, and project understanding.
The participation of the Department of Computer Science was distinguished with the research titled "A Security Irrigation System in IoT Environments" by students Dawood Haitham Dawood, Zahraa Falah Hassan, and Rahaf Shamil Farhan, under the supervision of Professor Dr. Alaa Kazem Farhan.
At the end of the festival, the President of the University, Professor Dr. Ahmed Muhammad Hassan Al-Ghaban, awarded certificates of appreciation to the participants.

The Department of Computer Science will organize a practical training session on occupational safety plan implementation.
The staff and students of the Department of Computer Science will organize a practical training session on the implementation of the occupational safety plan, which includes civil defense and crisis management procedures (evacuation process, fire extinguishing, and first aid) on Tuesday, 7th May 2024, after 10 AM. The training will include a controlled small fire with flames and smoke, as well as the practical training of transporting the injured to an ambulance.

The Department of Computer Science discussed the master's thesis titled "Intelligence Image Steganography Based on Improved Swarm Algorithms" by master's student Einas Abdul-Hussein Khuraibet, Computer Science / Software, today, Sunday, 5th May 2024, in the late Dr. Abbas Fadel Abdul-Qader Hall in the Computer Science Department annex.
The thesis aims to enhance overall security and improve the process of information hiding by using optimal, unexpected, and hard-to-detect locations to hide secret messages (images or text), making them difficult for hackers to discover and resistant to attacks, while also aiming to improve the quality of the resulting image. The discussion committee consisted of Prof. Dr. Abbas Fadel Muhammad Ali as chairperson, and members Prof. Dr. Nada Faleh Hassan, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ikhlas Faleh Nasser, Prof. Dr. Yusra Hussein Ali as a member and supervisor, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nuha Ibrahim Jamil as a member and supervisor.
