During the ceremony, it was highlighted that "the importance of accreditation standards may still be unknown to some of the public, but for specialists, they hold great significance as they will bring about a leap in the quality of education, which will positively impact our students in various ways."

The Head of the Computer Science Department, Prof. Dr. Alaa Kazem Farhan, attended a workshop organized by the University of Technology on the role of the Prime Minister in advancing military industries and his vision to enhance cooperation between the academic community and the military manufacturing sector. The workshop was attended by His Excellency Mustafa Ati Hassan, Head of the Military Manufacturing Authority, the President of the University of Technology, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Hassan Al-Ghabban, along with the scientific and administrative assistants, department heads, center directors, faculty members, and staff. The event took place in the conference hall of the Electromechanical Engineering Department.

The names of those accepted based on the two official letters from the Research and Development Department, numbered (7535 on 31/7/2024) and (7560 on 1/8/2024), will be announced later, according to the specified timelines.

The Ministerial Committee tasked with establishing a PhD program in Data Security visits the Department of Computer Science.
On Sunday, July 21, 2024, the team from the Ministerial Committee, tasked with reviewing the establishment of a PhD program in Data Security, visited the Department of Computer Science. The team was received by Prof. Dr. Alaa Kazem Farhan, Head of the Department; Prof. Dr. Abeer Tareq Mouloud, Scientific Assistant; and Assist. Prof. Dr. Iyad Hazem Ibrahim, Head of the Computer Security and Cybersecurity Branch.
The visit included meetings with the department staff, a tour of the classrooms, laboratories, and the department library, and an assessment of the availability of scientific resources. At the end of the visit, the committee praised the efforts of the Department of Computer Science leadership, represented by the Head of the Department, in developing and updating graduate programs. Prof. Dr. Alaa Kazem Farhan, Head of the Department, expressed his thanks and appreciation to the committee members, acknowledging their sincere efforts in establishing solid foundations for higher education.

The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, has issued a letter of thanks and appreciation to the universities and institutions that have implemented the Bologna Process procedures.
The text of the letter reads:
"In recognition of the high performance level demonstrated in applying the Bologna Process procedures across various disciplines and in support of aligning with global education standards, we extend our thanks and appreciation to the technical universities and their institutions, as well as the academic universities and their colleges, departments, and branches involved in this pathway aimed at enhancing the quality of the educational process and its university contexts.
We express our confidence in the competence of these institutions, which have shown diligent work and interaction towards the success of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research's policies and the advancement of its university message and goals."

This session marked the first anniversary of the strategic partnership with Elsevier, the world's prestigious Dutch publishing house. The Department of Computer Science conducts the competitive exam for graduate students (master's and doctoral) electronically and announces the results immediately.
In the presence of Prof. Dr. Ahmad Mohammed Hassan Al-Ghaban, President of the University of Technology, accompanied by Prof. Dr. Khawla Salah Khshan, Assistant President for Scientific Affairs, and under the supervision of the member of the Ministerial Committee in the Directorate of Supervision, Planning, and Follow-up, and with direct oversight from Prof. Dr. Alaa Kazem Farhan, Head of the Computer Science Department, and the diligent efforts of the Scientific Assistant’s Office, the Graduate Studies Division, the Administrative Assistant’s Office, and the Departmental Systems Committee, the Department of Computer Science conducted the electronic competitive exam for graduate studies (master’s and doctoral) for the academic year 2024-2025 on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at 9:00 AM. The results were announced immediately, with more than 60 candidates participating in the doctoral (general and artificial intelligence) and master’s (general, systems, and artificial intelligence) programs.
The President of the University, Prof. Dr. Ahmad Mohammed Hassan Al-Ghaban, followed the proceedings of the competitive exam and praised the efforts of the department's leadership in organizing and providing all the necessary requirements for the exam, ensuring that students could take their exams in an ideal atmosphere.

PhD dissertation in the Department of Computer Science discussing robust watermarking techniques to mitigate deepfake threats in digital video.
The Department of Computer Science discussed the PhD dissertation titled "Robust Watermarking Technique to Reduce Deepfake Threats for Digital Video" by Ms. Ibtihal Taleb Khudair, in the field of Computer Science. The discussion took place on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, in the Dr. Imad Kazem Hall, located in the Computer Science Department building.
The dissertation aims to present a system that uses a watermark encrypted with a new proposed algorithm and a new intelligent proposed algorithm to determine the best locations for watermark insertion. It is distinguished by being imperceptible through the suggestion of an innovative and robust equation to reduce deepfake threats targeting video. The proposed methods demonstrated good results, and the system proved to be secure, intelligent, and robust.

Visit of the Head of the Computer Science Department as part of the University of Technology delegation to the National Data Center affiliated with the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers.
On Tuesday, 11th June 2024, the Head of the Computer Science Department, Professor Dr. Alaa Kazem Farhan, visited the National Data Center affiliated with the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers as part of a delegation from the University of Technology. The delegation included the Head of the Computer Engineering Department, Professor Dr. Hassan Jalil Hassan, the Director of the Information Technology Center, Lect. Ali Abdulrazaq Tarish, and Dr. Amir Musa from the Control and Systems Engineering Department. The purpose of the visit was to review the Data Center, understand the nature of the electronic services it provides, and recognize the importance of the stored data. The delegation also examined the modern equipment and discussed future visions for mutual cooperation and the exchange of expertise between the two sides.
