PhD students in the Computer Science Department take the comprehensive written exam.

- With the blessing of Almighty God and under the direct supervision of the Head of the Computer Science Department, Professor Dr. Alaa Kadhom Farhan, PhD students who passed the first round took the comprehensive written exam today, Monday, October 14, 2024, in the graduate studies hall in the department building, in the presence of the Scientific Assistant, Professor Dr. Abeer Tareq Mawlood.

- In the presence of the Head of the Computer Science Department, Professor Dr. Alaa Kadhom Farhan, the committee tasked with drafting the program accreditation standards reports for the National Council specializations met in the Computer Science Department on Sunday, October 13, 2024, in the department council. During the meeting, the main points for achieving program accreditation standards and gathering the required evidence and documentation were discussed.

A faculty member from the Computer Science Department represents the University of Technology in the first meeting of the National Artificial Intelligence Team.

- The first meeting of the National Artificial Intelligence Team was held at the National Security Advisory, chaired by the Director of the Al-Nahrain Center for Strategic Studies, with the University of Technology represented by Professor Dr. Ahmed Tareq Sadeq, a faculty member from the Computer Science Department. It is worth noting that the National Artificial Intelligence Team is focused on developing a strategy to advance artificial intelligence in Iraq by conducting training courses for state personnel in the field of artificial intelligence to implement AI-related projects.

A master's thesis in the Computer Science Department discusses face spoofing detection based on multi-level features with deep learning

- The Computer Science Department discussed the master’s thesis titled: Face Spoofing Detection Based on Multilevel Features with Deep Learning by the student (Shaimaa Sabah Hamad), a general computer science major, on Thursday, October 10, 2024, in the late Dr. Imad Kadhom Hall in the Computer Science Department building. The thesis aimed to design a high-performance face spoofing detection system to distinguish between real and fake faces using machine learning techniques for feature extraction alongside deep learning techniques. The system demonstrated high efficiency. The examination committee consisted of Prof. Dr. Abdulameer Abdullah Kareem as Chair, and members Assoc. Prof. Dr. Enas Mohammed Hussein, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Iyad Hazem Ibrahim, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nuha Jameel Ibrahim as a member and supervisor, and Assist. Prof. Dr. Mohammed Natiq Fadel as a member and supervisor.

An academic delegation from the Al-Hussain Holy Shrine visits the Computer Science Department

- In the presence of the University Vice President for Administrative Affairs, Professor Dr. Farhad Mohammed Othman, the Scientific Assistant in the Computer Science Department, Professor Dr. Abeer Tareq Mawlood, and branch heads, the Computer Science Department received an academic delegation from the Al-Hussain Holy Shrine on Thursday, October 10, 2024. The visit aimed to explore opportunities for joint scientific and research collaboration between the two parties, focusing on skill development in various fields, such as artificial intelligence and cybersecurity, with the goal of preparing specialized and advanced scientific personnel in different areas of computer science. This collaboration seeks to bridge gaps between academic education and the labor market needs in both public and private sectors. The delegation also toured the artificial intelligence and cybersecurity labs in the Computer Science Department to review the equipment and capabilities available.

A research team from the Computer Science Department publishes a new paper in the field of cybersecurity and encryption in a scientific journal indexed in Scopus.

- A team of faculty members from the Computer Science Department at the University of Technology, consisting of (Dr. Farah Tawfiq Abdulhussein, Assistant Lecturer Fadel Abbas Fadel, and Assistant Lecturer Mohammed Thamer Abdulhadi), has published a new paper in the field of cybersecurity and encryption in the Journal of Intelligent Systems, indexed in Scopus Q2 and Clarivate with an impact factor of 2.1.

The paper is titled: "Enhancing Data Security Using Laplacian of Gaussian and Chacha20 Encryption Algorithm"

The research focuses on enhancing data security using the Laplacian of Gaussian and Chacha20 techniques in encryption, offering innovative solutions to improve performance in edge detection and text encryption. The proposed algorithms were applied to diverse data, with results showing high effectiveness in maintaining data confidentiality and protecting it from attacks.

Two faculty members from the Computer Science Department attend a central workshop at the University of Baghdad.

- The faculty members and members of the Program Accreditation Committee in the Computer Science Department, Professor Dr. Abdulameer Abdullah and Dr. Dina Kadhom Mohsen, attended a central workshop on the standards of the National Council for Accreditation of Science Programs at the University of Baghdad, College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences, on Wednesday, October 9, 2024. The workshop was attended by the President of the University of Baghdad, along with several presidents of public and private universities.

The Computer Science Department organizes a workshop on the graduate student monitoring system.

- Under the patronage of the President of the University of Technology, Professor Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Hassan Al-Ghaban, and the supervision of the Head of the Computer Science Department, Professor Dr. Alaa Kadhom Farhan, the Computer Science Department organized a workshop titled "Graduate Student Monitoring System." The workshop was attended by the Head of the Department, Professor Dr. Alaa Kadhom Farhan; the Administrative Assistant, Associate Professor Dr. Bashar Saadoun Mahdi; the Director of the Scientific Affairs and Cultural Relations Division, Dr. Anmar Ali; the Head of the Planning Division, Assistant Lecturer Rasha Mohammed Mohsen; faculty members; and graduate students. It took place on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, in the late Dr. Imad Kadhom Hall in the department building. The workshop was presented by Assistant Lecturer Fadel Abbas Fadel, a member of the University of Technology Central Automation Committee and a faculty member in the department. The session covered how to convert the graduate student paper forms into an electronic system based on a request from the Scientific Assistant. This system enables faculty to monitor student progress, create research plans, track completion percentages, assess students, prepare theoretical aspects of the research, display details, and update student information in case of errors. The system also allows setting the date of the defense, tracking whether amendments were made, and presenting the student’s academic record to the supervisor. At the conclusion of the workshop, certificates of appreciation were awarded to the members of the Graduate Student System Committee in the department in recognition of their efforts in delivering this lecture.
