Two faculty members from the Computer Science Department give a lecture at a workshop on the launch of a graduate student monitoring system at the University of Technology.

- On Monday, September 23, 2024, a workshop was held on how to use the graduate student monitoring system, programmed by Assistant Lecturer Fadel Abbas Fadel and Assistant Lecturer Mohammed Thamer Abdulhadi from the Computer Science Department. The event was attended by the Director of the Graduate Studies Department at the University of Technology, along with all academic assistants and the heads of the Graduate Studies Division at the university. The purpose of this workshop was to introduce the academic and administrative staff to the system’s usage, demonstrating how its tools can be utilized to monitor graduate students and facilitate the management of each student’s academic progress. This system marks a significant step towards improving communication between students and supervisors and organizing academic information with greater precision and efficiency.

The Computer Science Department organizes a workshop on the Graduate Students Tracking System

- Under the patronage of the President of the University of Technology, Professor Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Hassan Al-Ghaban, and supervised by the Head of the Computer Science Department, Professor Dr. Alaa Kadhim Farhan, the Computer Science Department organized a workshop titled: "Graduate Students Tracking System" The event was held on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, in the Dr. Imad Kadhim Memorial Hall within the department’s building. It was attended by the Head of the Department, Professor Dr. Alaa Kadhim Farhan, the Administrative Assistant, Assistant Professor Dr. Bashar Saadoun Mahdi, the Director of the Scientific Affairs and Cultural Relations Division, Dr. Anmar Ali, and the Head of the Planning Division, Assistant Lecturer Rasha Mohammed Mohsen, along with faculty members and graduate students. The lecture was delivered by Assistant Lecturer Fadel Abbas Fadel, a member of the university’s central automation committee and a faculty member of the department. The workshop focused on transforming the paper-based forms of graduate students into an electronic system, as requested by the Scientific Assistant. The system allows faculty members to monitor students, prepare research plans, track progress, and assess students' work. It also provides tools for preparing the theoretical aspects of research, displaying detailed information, and updating student data in case of errors. Additionally, the system records the date of the thesis defense and whether any required modifications were completed, as well as presenting students' academic records to supervisors. At the conclusion of the workshop, certificates of appreciation were awarded to the members of the Graduate Students Tracking System Committee in recognition of their efforts in delivering the lecture.

The research paper is titled: "Symmetry Analysis in Constructing Two Dynamic Lightweight S-Boxes Based on the 2D Tinkerbell Map and the 2D Duffing Map." The university expresses its hope for their continued dedication and contributions in service of our beloved institution and our dear Iraq.

Announcement of the Ministry of Higher Education Reading Award

The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research announces that the test for the Higher Education Reading Award will take place on Saturday, October 12, 2024, according to the following conditions:

  1. The test will begin at 10:00 AM.
  2. The competition's online platform (https://awards.mohesr.gov.iq) is accessible from smartphones, tablets, and computers.
  3. The test will consist of 100 questions, each with four answer choices.
  4. The time allocated for the test is 1 hour and 25 minutes, with 45 seconds per question.
  5. Upon accessing the test platform, a countdown timer will display the total time and the time allocated for each question.
  6. Once a selection is made for a question, it cannot be changed.
  7. Answers will be automatically corrected, and the result, along with the time taken to complete the test, will be displayed upon completion.

The organizing committee also informs registered students that their username and password will be sent to their university email accounts to enable them to participate in the test at the scheduled time.

The University of Technology achieves first place nationally in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings for 2025.

- Baghdad, Iraq – October 9, 2024 The results of the THE World University Rankings 2025 were announced, with the University of Technology achieving a remarkable milestone by securing first place locally among Iraqi universities for the second consecutive year out of a total of 18 ranked institutions. The Computer Science Department organizes a seminar on student ethics on campus.

- Under the patronage of the President of the University of Technology, Professor Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Hassan Al-Ghaban, and supervised by the Head of the Computer Science Department, Professor Dr. Alaa Kadhim Farhan, a seminar titled "Student Ethics on Campus" was held on Tuesday, October 8, 2024. The event was organized in collaboration with Assistant Lecturer Haneen Rasheed Majeed from the Office of the University President / Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Division. It took place in the Dr. Imad Kadhim Memorial Hall in the Computer Science Department building, with the attendance of the Scientific Assistant, Professor Dr. Abeer Tareq Mawlood, along with faculty members and students. The seminar covered two key topics. The first focused on student behavior, emphasizing the importance of adhering to cultural values, demonstrating good conduct with peers, avoiding bullying, maintaining campus cleanliness, wearing modest attire, and engaging responsibly with social media. The second topic addressed the relationship between students and their teachers, highlighting the importance of respecting faculty members, appreciating their efforts in delivering academic content, and recognizing their role as respected figures in society. At the conclusion of the seminar, the department’s Scientific Assistant awarded a certificate of appreciation to the lecturer in recognition of her efforts in delivering the session.

The Computer Science Department organizes a tree-planting campaign in the department's gardens.

- Under the direct supervision of the Head of the Computer Science Department, Professor Dr. Alaa Kadhim Farhan, and with the participation of the Administrative Assistant, Assistant Professor Dr. Bashar Saadoun Mahdi, along with a group of faculty members and students, the Computer Science Department organized a tree-planting campaign in the department's gardens on Tuesday, October 1, 2024. The campaign involved planting evergreen trees and seasonal seedlings to expand the university's green spaces and encourage volunteer work among the department’s students. Such initiatives positively impact the environment by promoting healthy surroundings and reducing pollution. It is worth mentioning that this campaign is part of a series of regular efforts by the department to maintain and sustain green spaces.

A faculty member from the Department of Computer Science participated in the activities of the 14th International Scientific Forum and was awarded the Medal of an Initiative Researcher.

- Assist. Prof. Dr. Shatha Habib Jafar, a faculty member from the Department of Computer Science, participated in the opening and closing activities of the 14th International Scientific Forum, held in Erbil, organized by the AREED Platform for Arabic-speaking scientists, experts, and researchers. She received a Certificate of Appreciation along with the Medal of an Initiative Researcher for her contributions.
